Cameron K Coffee
Cameron Coffee is a trumpeter, composer, producer, and educator who works as a Graduate Assistant for the University of South Carolina’s Jazz Studies and Music Industry Studies program. He is the conductor of The CNHB Crescent Moon Jazz Band and music director for Garnet Groove, USC’s premier Commercial Music ensemble. He is working on his Master’s degree in Jazz Studies with an emphasis in Jazz Composition from USC. He earned his bachelor’s degree in jazz studies and statistics from the University of South Florida.
As a producer and songwriter, Cameron Coffee has written and recorded music in the jazz, funk, and R&B genres. Coffee is the band leader of a South Carolina-based R&B band called Cream ‘n Sugar, which incorporates jazz elements into a modern funk sound. The sound of the band has developed over the years since being founded in Tampa, Florida, and has evolved as personnel have changed.
Coffee has studied and performed with artists such as James Suggs, Matthew White, Remy Le Boeuf, Chuck Owen, and Jack Wilkins. Cameron Coffee is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda and recently won the Lamont Student Grant to attend the NAMM show on behalf of the University of South Carolina. One thing that Coffee values is giving back to the community so he works with educational outreach programs such as Jazz Girls Day and Hands-on Harmonies to bring jazz and commercial music education to underserved communities.
